RoutXpress uses intelligent routing to deliver all print jobs to the best printer on the network, just like the Administrator would do if he had the time to monitor every print job and user.
The Administrator creates a set of rules that determine if and how RoutXpress will route all print jobs on the network, even print jobs sent to small local (USB) printers. The rules can only be set or changed by the Administrator, thus providing a secure network.
Intelligent routing typically occurs when a printer is; broken, out of paper, out of toner, does not have correct paper size, is not color capable, or has a paper jam. Routing can also occur if the Administrator wants to save money by sending larger print jobs to less expensive printers. For example, the Administrator could decide that user A can only print 1 color page or up to 3 black & white pages on their expensive inkjet printer. If the print job is larger it will be sent to the local networked laser printer. But, user B (the President) can print any size print job he wants on his inkjet. The Administrator can get very creative with how the rules are setup, limiting color printing according to users and departments, driving large print jobs to the larger less expensive printers or CRD. The Administrator can also assure that the routed print jobs are not sent to printers that are far from the users.
