AFP to Adobe PS (PostScript) conversion

CRTeurope provides a software solution that allows organizations to integrate Advanced Function Printing AFPDS formats with PostScript Page Description Language printing applications. The solution interprets AFP print streams and resources and transforms them into PostScript.

This conversion process provides a smooth migration path for AFP printer clients who want to move their applications to PostScript printers without making costly application and architecture changes.

One of the keys to the success of the AFP to Postscript conversion process is its extended font mapping and fidelity. AFP printer fonts can be mapped to selected PostScript fonts. It has the flexibility to map fonts to either standard PostScript or embedded Type 1 fonts. AFP forms, including colors are converted. Images are converted to compressed PostScript images embedded in the output file. The solution optimizes the PostScript creating small and compact PostScript files that can quickly be routed to a printer permitting rated speeds of operation.

SOLUTION BENEFITS

  • Output is optimized for production speed and performance.
  • Allows a single printer to be used for printing both PostScript and AFP.
  • Compact PostScript files optimized for desktop and high-speed production printing.
  • A wide choice of platforms includes z/OS (all versions inlcuding zLinux), Linux, Solaris, AIX, HP-UX and Windows.
