Crawford Technologies Inc Becomes First Canadian Member of PDF/A Competence Center Files
TORONTO, Ontario, April 2nd, 2007 – Crawford Technologies Inc. (CrawfordTech) today announced it has become the first Canadian member of the PDF/A Competence Center (www.pdfa.org). The PDF/A Competence Center activities include cooperation on further advancements of the PDF/A standard, conducting seminars and serving as a competent point of contact for questions regarding all aspects of PDF/A.
PDF/A is the ISO 19005 standard for long term archiving in PDF format. It comprises a limited variant of PDF for the use of PDF in long-term archiving. The standard specifies in detail what content is allowed and what is not. These specifications are intended to ensure long-term readability of the documents regardless of the application software and operating system in which they were originally produced. Experts predict that the designation of PDF/A as an ISO standard will promote the popularity of this PDF format and advantages, such as full text search capabilities, will lead to it replacing TIFF in the near future.
