AFP spooling and printing solution.

 

Spool2Print™ is a spooling, print management and printing software solution. It enables AFPDS, line data or AFP mixed mode printing on IPDS, PCL and PostScript printers.

 

Spool2Print supports the high speed production printing environment as well as distributed printing using common network printers.  Additional conversion to PDF, TIFF, BMP and PPML are also available.

Spool2Print is designed for the management of everyday production print jobs. Spool2Print can print the jobs or can convert them to various formats. Operators can manage the print jobs allowing operations such as job hold, release and selected page range printing the jobs are automatically stored in a database and deleted upon operator request or retained until a user-defined expiry date is reached. Spool2Print can be managed either locally or remotely via a GUI.

Spool2Print can address any model of IPDS, PCL or PostScript printer. Even non-IPDS printers can be used to print the AFP production jobs. Spool2Print allows you to organize the print production and utilize all your available printers.

 

 

CONVERSION INDEXING

 

Spool2Print can also convert AFPDS or line data into PDF or Tiff file formats for e-mailing or archiving. AFP documents can be split upon TLE (indexing Tag Logical Element), renamed and an associated job index file can be generated. Additionally output formats supported: BMP and PPML

AFPDS

 

Formatted data complying with the MO:DCA architecture. Typically an ACIF file from a mainframe Line data: record based format generated directly by the application.

 

 

CONNECTIVITY

 

MVS Download

 

TCP/IP transfer from a Mainframe (MVS).

 

Hot Folder

 

Local directory scanned by spool2Print (May be fed by FTP for example).

 

LPR / LPD

 

Standard TCP/IP protocol to print from different platforms (Windows, Linux, AIX....). MPI Tech also provides a LPR client to address Spool2Print LPD inputs.

 

 

MINIMUM SERVER REQUIREMENTS

 

Operating system

Windows XP, 2000, 2003, Vista.

 

 

MINIMUM HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS

 

500Mhz processor, 512 KB of RAM, 20 MB disk space (additionnal storage necessary according to job size).

 

SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

 

Java version 1.4.2 or above installed on both the server and any workstation accessing Spool2Print.

 

 

PROGRAMMING INTERFACE

 

MPI Tech provides Application Programming Interfaces (API) to drive Spool2Print or to retrieve job and device status information.

 

 

PRINTER SUPPORT

 

Spool2Print drives from desktop printers up to high speed production printers (3300ppm) at full speed. There is no technical limit on the number of printers.

 

IPDS Printers

Any IPDS matrix, cutsheet or continuous feed printer over TCP/IP communication .

PCL Printers

Spool2Print can address any PCL5 printer. Colour data is converted to greyscale.

PostScript Printers

Spool2Print can address any PostScript printer. Supports full colour applications.

 

 

END TO END CONTROL

 

Due to support of the IPDS Protocol and End to End control, print fidelity can be guaranteed.

 

For non IPDS printers, SNMP and PJL are used to control and retrieve status information from the printer.

 

 

SPOOL MANAGEMENT

 

Provides job progress and status information Allows job control/management; release, hold, delete, page range printing and job duplication for print optimization.

 

AFP jobs can be viewed (when an AFP viewer is installed on the server).

 

 

USER INTERFACE

 

Java based user interface (client).

Can be installed on any Windows workstation with Java support .

 

 

USER AUTHORIZATION

 

Client configuration to only access specific views or actions.

The GUI views can be configured to meet the operator’s requirements.

 

 

PDF OUTPUT

 

PDF outputs from Line Data or AFPDS jobs.

PDF/A for archiving.

Job splitting and PDF naming on NOPs, TLE.commands or document data.

Font management (embedded, substituted).

XML index file generation for document delivery and archiving.
